Course Overview:

This hands-on class prepares you to respond to life-threatening bleeding emergencies in situations where sterile settings, medical personnel, or supplies are unavailable. Focusing on the critical "Golden Hour" (the window to get patients to definitive care), you’ll learn practical, improvised techniques to stabilize injuries and buy time for survival.

Key Learning Objectives:

  1. Tourniquet Mastery

    • Learn proper application of commercial tourniquets.

    • Create improvised tourniquets using everyday items (belts, cloth, etc.).

  2. Bleeding Control

    • Wound packing with gauze, hemostatic agents, or alternative materials (clean cloth, sanitary products).

    • Making chest seals for penetrating injuries using plastic, tape, etc.

  3. Adaptive Problem-Solving

    • Learn resourcefulness in non-sterile environments.

    • Prioritize actions when medical help is delayed or unavailable.

  4. Patient Assessment & Monitoring

    • Rapidly evaluate injuries and bleeding severity.

    • Track vital signs and maintain stability until help arrives.

Why This Matters:

  • Over 80% of preventable trauma deaths are caused by uncontrolled bleeding.

  • Emergencies can occur anywhere—wilderness, conflict zones, accidents, or disasters.

  • You can bridge the gap between injury and professional care.

Takeaway Skills:

  • Confidence to act decisively in high-pressure situations.

  • Ability to improvise with limited tools.

  • Empowerment to be a lifesaver, not a bystander.

Equip yourself with the knowledge to make a life-saving difference.
